Attractions in Turriff
The Turra Coo: A fairly recent but very important addition to Turriff’s local attractions. Go and admire her on the High Street and read about her history.
Turriff Bowling Club: Located on Bowling Green Road, has 4 rinks. Tel (01888) 562676 for further information
Turriff Golf Club: Established over 100 years ago, this is an 18 hole course, with clubhouse serving drinks and good home cooking. Entrance is at Rosehall, overlooking the town. Call (01888) 562982 for details and bookings.
Turriff & District Heritage Society: Based in the Auld Post Office Museum, 24 High Street, the Society organises a number of events throughout the year and is open most mornings during the summer (Friday mornings from 10am – 12.00 during the winter). If you are looking to trace your family roots, this is the best place to start, and you will find enthusiastic and very knowledgeable volunteers ready and willing to help you. Turriff Swimming Pool: 20m long and 9m wide, located within easy walking distance of the caravan park. Tel: (01888) 562528 for further information and opening times.
Turriff Sports Centre: Also very close to the caravan park, offers a range of activities, health suite and all-weather pitches for football and tennis. For further information and opening times call (01888) 563800
Tennis: In addition to the astro-turf courts beside the sports centre there are also tennis courts beside the indoor bowling club. Call (01888) 563288 for details.
Local Shops: There is a good variety of shops in the town centre including Celebrations, one of the best independent department stores in the North East, where you can browse or enjoy a snack or lunch in the coffee parlour. The Fife Arms Hotel, at the top of the square, is an ideal spot for a quiet drink or special meal in the Bistro. In addition there are 2 Indian restaurants, take-away’s and pubs such as The Crown Inn on Crown Street which holds regular darts tournaments, karaoke evenings etc. Call (01888) 562466 for further information.
Turriff & District Rotary Club: We would be happy to welcome any visiting Rotarians. The weekly meeting takes place at the Kastille in Turriff. Meet 6pm for 6.30pm buffet with coffee. Open bar available.
